Matthew Perry began his musical studies at Knox College in Sydney, topping the state of N.S.W. in his HSC results.
Later he studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, graduating in 1981 with a Diploma in Music Eduction and receiving the only high distinction awarded for teaching that year.
Matthew was Master in charge of Music at Cranbrook Junior School between 1982 and 1985 when he was appointed Director of Music at the then new Emanuel School Sydney.
After establishing the new music department at the Emanuel School he left teaching for two years to pursue his other great passions of composition and performing.
Matthew then taught at the International Grammar School, in Sydney from 1989 to 1996 where he taught classes from preschool through to year 12.
From 1997 to 2013 Matthew specialised in early childhood music at Cranbrook School where his responsibilities included preschool, infants and primary teaching.
In addition to teaching music, Matthew works as a composer, conductor and pianist and was the musical director of “Christmas at the Opera House” from 1984 -1997.

Matthew lives in Sydney, Australia with his wife Carol, his children Tabitha, Daniel and Michael and his grandchildren Jasmine and Max.
